The whole life of a rug
A rug arrives from a loom in Qum or Kerman, gets photographed, sold, delivered, walked on for thirty years, washed a dozen times, repaired twice, appraised for insurance, stored through a move, and eventually sold again. Every one of those moments is a service. We run all of them.

Identifying a rug is physical work. You burn a fiber and smell it. You count knots with calipers. You read the back, the fringe and the selvedge. You put a tape on it because the label is wrong more often than anyone admits. We have the bench, the tools, the warehouse and four decades of pattern recognition.
Microscope, calipers, tape, burn test kit, raking light. Fiber and construction are determined, not estimated.
Full immersion capacity with controlled drying. Wool, silk, natural dye and problem cases are handled separately.

World of Oriental Rugs, Inc. has been in the rug business since 1986. Four decades of buying, selling, cleaning, repairing and valuing hand knotted rugs, for homeowners, for the design trade, and for dealers and suppliers around the world.
We stayed in one category on purpose. Everything we offer comes out of the same forty years of handling rugs, which is why we can stand behind what we say a rug is.
